Beyond Posing: Working with Models (and Other Humans) to Make Awesome Images
with Tom Lupton
Date: Sunday, June 30, 2024
Time: 12:00 - 3:00 PM PST
Location: New Wave PDX Studio (inner-SE Portland)
Bring your camera--this is a hands-on workshop!
Tom Lupton shoots people! He shoots heavy metal artists and opera singers, artists, actors, executives, authors, seniors, kids, mermaids, vampire weddings, drag queens, portraits, couples, fashion models, and other humans.
During this time, he's learned some very important key points in working with different types of people. Some of these key points you may already have discovered (but haven't yet figured out), and others you will likely encounter along your journey of people photography. It is Tom's goal to prepare you for that next stretch goal.
Do you struggle with posing your portrait subjects? Do they seem stiff or uncomfortable and you're not sure how to pose them better? This workshop will help you see beyond "just" a pose--you'll learn about coaching, guiding, and directing your subjects effectively.
Do you work with models for personal projects or themes or group shoots? This workshop will help you learn all the ins and outs and best practices about working with models!
In this workshop, we'll prepare you to:
* Find the right model and collaborate with them.
* Build your subject's trust, which is the foundation to a meaningful shoot.
* Have a smooth shoot that feels effortless, instead of uncomfortable and tedious.
* Guide and collaborate with your subject in a way that produces beautiful images that really connect with the viewer.
If you are a portrait photographer, this workshop will help you be a better photographer!
