What the heck is a portfolio? Is it a collection of "greatest hits"? Is it images with the same subject matter? Why do you need one, anyway? And, what do galleries expect to see? In this talk, photographer, curator, and educator Laura Valenti will share her thoughts on crafting beautiful, cohesive portfolios that express your personal vision. If you've never built a portfolio (or if you've built several but you know they're missing the mark), this talk will help you gain significant clarity and confidence with your next steps.

About Your Speaker:

Laura Valenti

Laura Valenti is the founder of Light Atlas Creative, an online platform for transformative photography education. She teaches interactive e-courses, supports emerging photographers in her creative mentoring program, lectures, and curates exhibitions for galleries and photo festivals around the world. She also juries photo competitions and serves as a reviewer at portfolio review events, where she helps photographers fine-tune their vision and promote their work with confidence. She also leads 10-day travel photography retreats (keep an eye out for her next Japan trip in June 2025!). Laura has been a photographer, curator, arts director, and educator for over 20 years. She worked for many years in the nonprofit art world, most recently as Outreach Director at Photolucida.
