Getting Started With Drone Photography

Mark Fitzgerald ~ Certified FAA Remote Pilot

It’s no surprise drone photography is a hot topic these days. In the last year we’ve seen major advances in drone technology making them easier and safer to fly. The cameras they carry have improved too with features like RAW, HDR, 4k video and more. If you’ve thought about purchasing a drone or if you already have one and want to learn more about getting great photos from it, this class is for you.

Morning session:

  • Meet in the classroom.
  • Overview of drones and sUAS systems.
  • Comparison of DJI’s Mavic Pro and Phantom 4 Pro.
  • Camera setup for stills and video.
  • Tips for aerial photography.
  • FAA rules for hobbyists and pros.
  • Basics of safety and insurance.

Afternoon session:

  • Meet at an outdoor location after lunch (on your own).
  • Preflight checks and setup.
  • Working with a visual observer.
  • Overview of aerial photography techniques.
