OREGON PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS ASSOCIATION
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy of Image Competition
Randy McNeilly, former Chairman of PPA’s International Photographic Competition Committee promises to share the lessons he has learned in twenty five years as an approved judge and Jury Chairman. This program is directed to those who are just curious about image competition, those wish to improve their success, and those who are considering becoming future judges.
The program will be divided into two parts. The first will be an informal presentation and discussion of the intricacies and nuances of the process.
The event will start with a slide show to demystify the process. This will be followed by a “fireside chat” format with lots of questions and participation from the audience. Randy promises to “answer all of your questions about image competition as well as the ones you do not know to ask”.
The second phase of the program will be a “mock judging”. Here the audience will take turns sitting on a panel actually judging images. This is always a fun filled part of the program and never fails to show the participants they have skills of evaluation untapped until now. You will never look at your own work the same after this program.
This will be a fun and lighthearted experience for all. You are sure to leave with a different view of image competition, your own work and perhaps even life itself.
This workshop is PPA-accredited; PPA attendees who attend the entire session will receive one PPA merit.
